As your neighbours to the North, we value US customers purchasing from us.
However, As a small independent business, we cannot absorb the tariffs and will be passing along the cost of tariffs to you. Tariffs can be scary and confusing. Shopify's checkout system bundles both tariffs and duties under the term 'Duties'. Going forward, for the sake of simplicity, duties and tariffs are the same.
How will duties and tariffs be applied?
At checkout, you will see a charge added into your order amount under 'Duties' that will calculate your order's. You pay us this duty and we pass it along to US customs when we ship out your order to you. This is known as "Delivered Duties Paid (DDP)" and you will not have to pay anything else after you'd made your order with us.
The good news is that duties on board games from whatever country are all 0%. However, US Customers will still face a minimum of 10% for importing any foreign made goods into the US. We have a mix of board game products that are made in many different Asian countries. We will display on the product pages where they are manufactured.
How are tariffs calculated?
It mainly depends on where the board game or board game related products are made. We use Shopify's checkout system to calculate the duties in your cart. If the tariffs end up increasing without us knowing when we go to ship your order, we will absorb the cost of those tariffs for that order.
For everything NOT made in China, it should only be 10% of the value of the product. If it IS made in China, there will be an extra tariff on top of the 10% minimum. As of July 1st 2026, the extra tariff on Chinese products is 7.5%.
For example, with an order of 2 games, both of them are 20$ each but one of them is made in China and the other is made in Japan. The game made in China will add $3.50 (17.5% of $20) onto the order. The game made in Japan will add on $2.00 (10% of $20) to the order. With a total of $5.50 in duties, the total of the order will be $45.50 before shipping fees.
